Kickin’ it with Aldo

I have a confessionā€¦ I’m addicted to colorful footwear. Even if my outfit isn’t as colorful, I love throwing a really fun shoe into the mix. More importantly, comfort has become a bigger factor in my footwear purchases as I get older. That may seem like a given but these ballerina feet seem to be getting a little more tender than they used to be. But, to be clear, my definition of comfort still involves a high heel .. for now.

I had to laugh because when I first shared these photos on my Instagram – a troll came out of the woodwork to deeply criticize my aesthetic. Internet trolls always baffle me because they put all this effort into being nasty to someone behind a faceless account but don’t realize that instead of taking their hatefulness to heart, I pray for THEIR hearts. Hate and negativity like that always stems from a bigger issue and personally knowing what it’s like to fight your darkest demons, I send them well wishes in that journey.

I recognize my style and taste isn’t everyone’s preference but I do firmly believe these shoes can find a place in anyone’s style repetoire. They’re multi-textured, have a comfortable sole, and aren’t too steep in terms of heel height.

Originally, these Realonna heels were available online but now they’re only available in select areas. Admittedly I was supposed to photograph these with my group Femme Diversity – but the outfit I was changing into in the car completely ripped in the crotch – hence I couldn’t participate without giving everyone an unwelcome show. Now I’m always prepared with backup options but the situation was definitely one to learn from.

Summer is a wonderful time to explore new trends and styles. Snake or python print works in a variety of ways including but not limited to paired with denim, dresses, two piece sets, linens and neutrals..you name it!

In this look I blended a number of prints and textures to create something that stands out but still looks adorable. I even roped in my pet cheetah! (Kidding.. clearly it’s not a real cheetah).
