Festive Fourth
Can you believe it’s JULY??!
I feel like I blink and a new month is here. But alas, July means lazy days by the pool, cook outs and nights strolling under the stars with a popsicle (one of my favorite things to do).
June zoomed by in a haze of papers and school-crazed mania. I just ended my first doctoral class (Ethics of Nursing) and finish my other class (Philosophy of Nursing Science) mid July. I can’t tell you how much easier I can breathe just with one class being finished! Now I can finally play catch up and get the blog back up to speed!
I came up to Wichita Falls this weekend for a much needed mental escape. If you follow me on Snapchat, you were probably DYING laughing. We were having a great drive and about 20 minutes away from our destination when all of a sudden I smelled something beyond foul. My adopted boy dog (Hawk) took theĀ biggestĀ dump in the backseat. Y’all – I nearly wrecked the car. Not only did he have the nerve to do that but then as I looked back there, heĀ PEEDĀ in the seat! And they had just gone potty before we left. Thankfully I was a trauma nurse and carry a small Wal-mart in my car at all times: plastic bags, paper towels, clorox wipes, febreeze, antiseptic, trauma scissors, you name it- it’s in there.
You always hear these stories about people’s amazing dogs, how well behaved they are, the tricks they do – not mine. Daiquiri is fairly well behaved but is territorial one the sidewalk – minor flaw in the grand scheme of things. Hawk on the other hand is SO bad. but the episode takes the cake. Now I have to get the car (and the seats) deep cleaned because there are little poo pieces in the pores of the seat. Thank you Hawk, thank you for that.
Anyway.. I hope you guys relate to my real life moment of horror. I wish I had a video of my reaction, I’m sure it was hilarious.
But on a real note – please be safe this holiday – July 4th is one of the most dangerous holidays of the year. People make careless and reckless decisions. Be smart, be safe, and enjoy yourselves and your time with your loved ones.
