Wednesday Wellness | Lessons in Lady Bits with Lola

For my gentlemen friends who tune in – a) thank you! b) you can check out on this oneĀ unless you feel inclined to learn a little more about lady business and that infamous/dreaded time of the month or c) you’re tuning in for the giveaway! The jokes and idioms about good ol’ Aunt Flo are seemingly endless but one thing I’ll never joke about is health – particularly when it comes to our lady parts! That’s where my friends at Lola come in.

What is Lola?

Lola is a delivery service for feminine products – which means no more uncomfortable marching down the aisle at Target trying to cover up your goods with other items in case you were to run into someone you knew/an extremely attractive individual (for my single gals out there). You can have your order shipped every month or bimonthly and suspend if necessary. The subscription also comes with free ground shipping.

What’s the hype?

We take a lot of care nowadays about making greater strides when it comes to living healthier lives and making better choices – seemingly in the dietary department. Have you considered the other things you use on a daily/regular basis that might have an effect on your overall health? Something as simple as the deodorant you use might be loaded with chemicals that are the absorbed into your body and tampons/feminine hygiene products are no different.

The Chemical Breakdown

There are certain chemicals in the products we use that are now deemed “endocrine disruptors” meaning they mimic hormones within our own body and can alter body processes in ways that aren’t natural or meant to be. When these processes start occurring – when cells, hormones, and body systems start doing the tango when they’ve always preferred the fox trot – bad things can happen, things likeĀ cancer, certain disorders, obesity, or reproductive issues.

The V word

BoysĀ have a penis and girls have a vagina..Ā remember that movie? Even as an adult, vagina is difficult to say for a surprising number of adults. Now I’m not going to get into the beauty and magical la la of our vajayjays but I am going to say she deserves all the love and attention possible. Imagine this:Ā rather than pills that are swallowed and digested in the stomach, substances you place inside your lady parts don’t commit to the body’s regular elimination and metabolic processes. Rather than pass through the stomach and enter the digestive system breakdown, tampon chemicals are absorbed by the vaginal mucosa, and from there are able to pass almost directly into your bloodstream. This is also why unprotected sexual activities can lead to very,Ā very,Ā scary STD’s and HIV/AIDS. Be smart people. If you’re running around living your life – do so smartly and with protection. If you’re hanging around with a pint of mint chocolate chip, some PMS, and some cramps – consider switching up your game to chemical free goodies.

What are they made of?

All products are made with 100% cotton and BPA – free applicators, they also have non-applicator tampons. Don’t like tampons? They offer two pads 1) ultra thin pads w/ wings and 2) ultra thin liners – both of which don’t leave you feeling like you’re walking around with an awkward mattress in your pants. Your box of pads is also customizable offering a day or night assortment.

You can trial your own subscribscription by visiting their many sites: web, insta, Facebook, Twitter. And did you know Lola gives back? For every purchase made, Lola is helping donate female hygiene products to women across the nation who are choosing between food for their families and caring for themselves. I LOVE this and fully promote a company that gives back to the less fortunate. We can all be part of making this crazy world a little bit better! They also make the cutest little first period kits (where were these when I was a pre-teen?) with an e-book filled with all kinds of info, how-to’s and answers!
