How To Have More Energy In Your Thirties

Oh, to be young and energetic. Back then, it seemed like we could do whatever we wanted, and still have all the energy we need to go through life. But when you hit the other side of twenty five, and approach thirty, all of that becomes a little bit different. Now, energy is more elusive, always one step ahead of us! However, it doesnā€™t have to be that way. While that young age might be gone forever (although I prefer to think of my 30’s as my prime), itā€™s more than possible to have as much energy as you had when you were younger. Hereā€™s how.

Get Serious About Exercise

If youā€™re just plodding through life, then youā€™re unlikely to have much energy. To feel alive and buzzing like a bee, you need to be exercising and moving that bloodstream! Contrary to what you might logically think, working up a sweat doesnā€™t cost you energy; it increases it. Heard of endorphins?Ā  If itā€™s been a while since youā€™ve been exercising, then take a look at starting again. You can join a gym, or start running, or find a strenuous activity that you enjoy (I prefer spin). Note that this doesnā€™t mean ā€œworking up a sweat every weekā€; it means making exercise part of your lifestyle.

Give Up the Vices

Sure, you could drink and smoke when you were younger and not feel any effects. But that period is the exception, not the rule. Most of whatā€™s bad for you is going to drain your energy! Give up smoking, and youā€™ll have much more energy in a few weeks. The same goes for drinking. Of course, if it were easy to give up these things then everyone would. Best Nightā€™s Sleep

Youā€™re going to have more energy if youā€™re well-rested, itā€™s as simple as that. But most people donā€™t have a good nightā€™s sleep, even if theyā€™re going to bed early. To get GOOD sleep, you need to make your room quiet and dark; limit the screen time in the hour before hitting the hay; and positively making sure that youā€™re not consuming any caffeine after mid-afternoon. If youā€™re able to get a full nightā€™s sleep every night, youā€™ll have energy to burn.

Starting the Day Right

How we begin our day sets the tone for the rest of the day. So start it with energy. Fill up on an energy giving breakfast, have a cold shower (be brave!), and practice mindfulness for fifteen minutes. Youā€™ll be raring to go once you leave the front door. I also love a mug of hot lemon water with a hint of honey, it’s incredibly cleansing to the body!

No FOMO

Finally, listen to your body! Many of us are tired, yet keep on doing things all the time because of one mischievous thing: FOMO – or, the fear of missing out/opportunity. If you can learn to say no, Iā€™m not going (to yourself as well as others), then youā€™ll be able to have that cozy night in when youā€™re jaded from work. Save the fun outings until you have the energy to really enjoy it!
