A Kind Of Blue: Dressing According To Your Mood

Are you one of those eternal optimists in life, or are you someone who wants to hide away from the world now and again, like me? We all have our spells of low moods, and we still have to show ourselves out in public. Sometimes, even if we don’t feel like it, we need to dress rational, stylish, or sensibly, but if we are trying to improve our mood, what can we do to avoid wearing black from top to bottom?

Happy

When we are in a fantastic mood, we tend to go for bold looks. While you may not want to go for the brightest colors, this is your opportunity to experiment with styles, because you are embodying that care free attitude. It’s a bit point where accessories that you don’t normally go for will serve you in good stead. For example, a name necklace may not communicate stylish on a bad day from your perspective, but time to go for some sort of experimentation, so you can try out new looks to see if they suit you. At the end of the day, when you feel great, you have the confidence in which to experiment.

Confident

Feeling confident in a professional setting is a bit harder to gauge. When you are feeling powerful, a little black dress is always a key signifier of an ā€œIā€™m in charge, don’t mess with meā€ attitude. While an LBD is not a style that suits everyone, you can always go for little implements that make you feel powerful. Heels are something that isn’t always practical, but if you are short in stature, this will help you to feel that you are towering over others, and therefore stronger.

Annoyed

When we feel frustrated, or annoyed, or even anxious because of a bad situation in life, the temptation to get rid of those items of clothes is something we should go for. It’s been said that we should avoid a certain item of clothes especially if wore them during a difficult period of time in our life. We can transfer these bad feelings onto our clothing, so if you have an important meeting ahead, and you don’t want to feel this sense of anger clouding you, go for the opposite, in color and style.

Tired

We all feel tired, exhausted, especially in this modern world. Usually, when we feel like this, we go for the comfort, a thick, hooded top. And when we are tired, itā€™s important that we don’t try to think about it too much. We can go for the comforting clothes, but if we have to get up and do things, this is when we need to change clothes to alter our frame of mind. For example, changing to workout clothes that gives you that get up and go that will serve you well, and hopefully get you over that frame of mind.

We can all feel blue, but we can also feel happy. Dressing according to your mood is not just a way to highlight how you’re feeling, but it’s a great way to drastically alter your own perceptions. If we feel down, dressing in a happier set of colors can make all the difference.
