Help Yourself: Advice On How To Prevent Overeating

They say that in life, the two most enjoyable experiences and sensations are eating, and sex. All jokes aside, this could actually be true. Our neural sensors are most active when we taste and when we are in the midst of passion. Everything is on high alert in our brain because weā€™re putting something in our mouth that the brain needs to quickly determine whether this is food or not. Eating the wrong thing could lead to harming us. Which is why, we have developed a palate that can taste poisonous berries that grow in the wild, and their bitterness and toxic taste helps us to realize not to consume them. So think about how intense your brain is when it comes to eating three meals, with a few snacks every single day. The brain is familiar with flavors but even still, we make sure we are eating the right thing and avoid overeating. This leads us to feel a great sensation of pleasure when we eat. If we donā€™t find and hone our discipline to eat modestly and not give in to the sensations of pleasure, we could become unhealthy. So how do we stop ourselves from overeating?

Routine of consumption

Weā€™re in a dilemma these days, because the normal working hours have all but disappeared. We work at all hours of the day and night, and to do so we do need something to fuel us. And here is where the battle truly lies, the fight between our body clock, and our need to stay fueled and satisfied. The more erratic our sleep pattern, the more trouble weā€™re going to have eating at the right time and also, the right amount of portions. Weā€™re far more likely to lose our discipline and resort to eating something that is quick and tasty, i.e. junk food. However, even if you work late into the night, and/or work a standard 9 to 5 shift, routine of consumption is paramount. Eat breakfast at a specific time and no later or earlier. The same with lunch, and the same with dinner; you need to say this is the time you eat and thatā€™s it.

A little help

We like to think of ourselves as strong-minded but behind closed doors, we often succumb to our own temptations. Relax, youā€™re only human. As long as you donā€™t make it a consistent habit to break your diet you wonā€™t be in too much hot water. If you do find yourself relentlessly falling short of your own targets and standards, it’s okay in wanting a little help. Instead of a chocolate bar snack, and even instead of plain old water, drink a juice smoothie.

What a juice smoothie does is fill your stomach with healthy acids and alkalis. The fruit and vegetables trigger a strong reaction from your stomach acid, and this causes more gas to be produced. You end up feeling full when all it is, is a bit of harmless hot air. If something of this nature still not helping you, then read this Diet Probe article and you may find a supplement that helps you to keep the monster in check. They have a lot of information about what product helps in what way. The piece is geared toward people who have trouble overeating and should not be abused for people who have a desire to lose weight. They go into detail on how to use the product and their advice on what is recommended.

Buy healthier versions

A simple and effective way to start slowly melting the pounds off, is to simply buy different healthier versions of the things you like. For example, if you must simply have some kind of chocolate during the day to pleasure your craving, buy chocolate bars that have less sugar and less fat in them. Instead of a flapjack that is buttery for breakfast, buy a flapjack that has fruits and berries in it. Rather than buying a quiche that is just cheese and bacon, buy a vegetable quiche instead so you get less fat and more healthy greens in your body. This little change at the supermarket will be the first steps to controlling your cravings. Eventually, your lust for something sugary and addictive will begin to wear off and you can get to grips with how much you eat during the day.

We are our own worst enemy sometimes. We know we shouldnā€™t eat more and more, and stay within our calorie limits but food makes us feel good. We shouldnā€™t be a slave to our own taste buds though, you need to get a routine down of when you eat, consume healthier versions of the type of food you like, and keep the option of supplemental help open.
