Bingeworthy TV
I’ve been on a break from school for the last weekish and boy have I been a vegetable. Not a complete slug though, I’ve been back in the gym (super sore) and cleaning out my closet. Some of the shelving in my main closet is detaching from the wall, and from the unwarranted judgement of the handyman who came to assess the situation – I have too many clothes. I refuse to fully believe that nonsense BUT it did inspire me to go through it all more intensely and fire up the poshmark account (find me @tarafuller).
While I’ve been cleaning out the closet and adding things to poshmark, I’ve been binging one of my favorite shows, Trueblood on HBO. It made me think about some of my favorite shows to rewatch and recent shows I’ve finished.
1. Game of Thrones
I’m still having a tough time processing this season and that super vague ending. It just felt so rushed and unfinished. Things were revealed that ultimately were of no consequence … neither character ascended the throne that I was rooting for.. it was just, off. I am super excited to read the book, whenever it’s finally published. I read the books back before the series ever started, and there’s SO much that wasn’t included in series. Fingers crossed the book ends in a better way. AND here’s to hoping it’s published relatively soonish.
2. The OA
After what feels like years, the new season is finally here. I had to go back and rewatch some of the first season just to remember everything. Have you seen it? I loved the first one because it was unlike anything I had seen. It felt very The X files meets supernatural child kidnapping and miraculous happenings. You’ll get super drawn into the characters and attached to their stories. I’m currently in the middle of season 2, and I’m not sure how I feel yet. It’s very different from season 1, but still intense and riveting.
3. You
I saw some other blogger talking about this show in her stories as if it was the most revolting and disturbing show out there. Give me a break. I’d be shocked if someone out there hasn’t seen this by now. But just in case, you’re in for a treat. This thriller is yes, a bit sexual, but always extremely provoking when it comes to our use of social media – particularly unsafe practices. It made me very aware of things maybe I might be doing that make me much less safe and have since become more guarded. There’s already a second season in the making and I can’t wait! I promise you’ll watch this on the edge of your seat.
4. Wentworth
I love this show – it’s like the original Orange is the New Black but set in Australia. I highly recommend watching, it’s just as entertaining and addictive. BTW, OTNB is about to release the last season, are you ready?
5. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
I cannot get enough of this show. I grew up watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Friday evenings and love that they revamped this show more aligned to the comics. I think the Sabrina character match is spot on (Kiernan Shipka). I know some people are uncomfortable with the evil incantations and affiliations – but I think it’s brilliant and well acted.
6. The Spanish Princess
This is another Starz show based on Phillipa Gregory’s books following the Tudor lineage. Along with the White Queen, and the White Princess – this series focuses on Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII. This is by far my favorite era in English history – I find the people fascinating. I also rewatch the Showtime series the Tudors from time to time. It’s a five (I think) season series following Henry VIII and his many wives. Jonathan Rhys Meyers does a fantastic job at portraying the notoriously vivacious Henry VIII and being generally outlandish. While we’re on the European history tangent.. I also love Versailles, mainly because the characters are all exquisitely beautiful and the reign of Louis the Sun King and the ensuing Marie Antoinette era and French Revolution are SO interesting! Makes me miss Paris!
7. Outlander
Oh my goodness this show. If Jamie existed in this life, I can’t NOT say I wouldn’t run away with him. Sam Heugen is a dreamboat who does an amazing job playing Jamie, the Scottish outlander who meets Claire via a magic portal through historically bewitched stones in Scotland. I won’t say anymore but this love story has me hooked!
8. Jack Ryan
John Krasinski is one of my favorite actors, and he is AMAZING in this role on Amazon Prime. CIA operative overseas involved in all kinds of anti-terrorism tactics. It’s filled with action and plot twists… it’s like Homeland before it got strange (although I’m still eager to see the final season soon!).
9. Dead to Me
This show was SO good. Christina Applegate is always awesome and she nailed this role. Think recent widow with anger issues with a detective element and you’re on the right track.
10. Grey’s Anatomy
Forever a fan, I mean if you’ve been in it for this mean years (12-13?) you can’t quit now. I love rewatching the series for the Meridith and Christina jokes, and to see the absolute hilarity when it comes to doctors and residents doing all the tasks they would never do in real life. It’s also extremely amusing to see how wrong they are when doing things or calling out a crisis and the monitor is entirely wrong. #tv
11. The Act
Holy mackerel, I just watched the true crime version of this on HBO, Mommy Dead and Dearest. I remember vaguely hearing about this in the news when it happened but watching it all on HBO and the Act on Hulu is just mystifying in all aspects. just wow, wow, wow. Also on a true crime note, did you see the new Ted Bundy movie on Netflix with Zac Efron? I have mixed feelings – it wasn’t what I was expecting.
12. The Handmaid’s Tale
I feel like this show doesn’t disappoint? I’m eager for the new season to start here in a few days. Without getting extremely political, it’s disconcerting that recent state legislation has passed regarding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies and risking imprisonment. WHAT?! I won’t argue pro life or pro choice here.. but I CERTAINLY am anti any MAN regulating a woman’s body in any way, shape, or form.
13. PEN15
This show is HILARIOUS!! It’s on Hulu and is the complete 90’s teenage flashbacks for my fellow age group out there. Two best friends are trying to navigate puberty/early high school and I was CRYING laughing.
14. Younger
I love this entire cast, so much. And at this point, I can’t decide who I want Liza to be with. For those that haven’t seen it, Liza is a 40 yr old divorcee who is trying to reenter the workforce, only to find it’s put her to the curb and filled with young 20 somethings instead. SO she fakes her age..and it starts from there. SUPER good.
15. I am the Night
This show was amazing. Chris Pine does a marvelous job at playing a somewhat forgotten reporter who picks up a spine-tingling bit of information regarding a story from the past. Hint: the Black Dahlia.
16. Castle Rock
This show is somewhat psychological thriller somewhat creepy that takes place in the Stephen King horrorverse. The show starts with a mysterious phone call from Shawshank Prison that ends up taking us through various points in time and strange developments. It definitely left me wanting more, I’m hoping another season is in the works.
17. Sex and the City
This show never gets old for me, ever. Rewatching the series ALWAYS cracks me up, the one liners and snarky banter never ceases to amuse. Do you have a favorite line?
Another show similar to SATC but a more millennial vibe is the Bold Type on Hulu. A trio of girls bond in the office and make their way through life and love in NYC. The style is also on point!
18. Gossip Girl
I FINALLY watching this series a few months ago – and I have to say I was skeptical at first but ended up so attached to each character and super sad when it ended. Is it true they’re making a movie or another show? I can’t remember now which rumor I heard but I’m totally here for it.
19. Big Little Lies
SO excited this series is returning with a second season. The cast is unbeatable and intrigue throughout the entire season was fantastic. I loved it!
20. The Rain
The foreign show on Netflix that has me hooked! Season one began with a plague of rain that was suddenly killing the population – imagine World War Z but with rain. These kids are left to find a way to survive and find answers – and it will lure you in! Season 2 was just released so I’m sure it won’t disappoint!
I also recently started Russian Doll, Schitt’s Creek, and am eagerly awaiting Chernobyl on HBO. I also watched the Case Against Adnan Syed on HBO based on the podcast Serial. I’m still so baffled with that entire case and outcome!
Have you seen anything lately, anything that I missed? I haven’t seen Ozark although Charlie loves that show. He’s also very into American Gods on Starz, which I haven’t watched or True Detective. What do you love to go back and rewatch?
OK first off I got so distracted with your AWESOME golden goose Neon shoes that I almost forgot to ready your post! I need those shoes! Thanks for all the Netflix options! There’s so many on your list that I haven’t ever watched!
So many things to binge watch here! Lately I’ve just been re-watching old favorites and haven’t really ventured into a ton of new stuff. Lots of things to check out here though!
Love this post! I’ve been on the lookout for more shows to start; this list is great and will have to check these out! Thanks for sharing!

cute & little
I’m so dang picky with my TV shows, I’ll tell ya what. While I’ve watched Gossip Girl all the way through and I’m interested in Dead to Me, even Younger was slightly too raunchy for my taste. Hmmm but to each their own, right? Everyone loves different things!
exactly! there’s stuff i cannot stand but others find so hilarious. we’re all built differently to appreciate various things š
Gossip girl will forever be my fave!
i was so hooked!!!
Omg THANK YOU for this! I’ve definitely seen a lot of these and loved them, but there are some on this list that I haven’t seen. Always looking for a good show to binge!
So many great recommendations! I’ve watched The Tudors series and found it quite interesting. Gonna have to check out some of these other shows now!
Great list of shows! I agree with you about the rushed ending of GoT this season. In fact the whole season just felt kind of lazy (remember the Starbucks cup?)
lol the infamous cup!
Dead to Me was seriously so good! We binge watched that in just a few days. And I’m also so excited for Big Little Lies to be returning with a second season!
xo, Laura
These are some good shows. I liked dead to me, it’s the most recent binge I’ve done, haha.
