Cyber Monday Holiday Partay!! Finds

Christmas is by far my most favorite time of year! Whether you’ve had an awesome year or a total crap year and are desperately ready for a new start,Ā the festivities of the season always seem to make theĀ heart lighter. Christmas music also seems to instantly make me happy, especially Pentatonix … if you haven’t heard their holiday albums I highly suggest checking them out, SO incredible!

One of my most treasured holiday pastimes is driving around and seeing all of the Christmas lights! Growing up we spent every other Christmas seeing my family in Chicago (Dad grew up there). The lights there are always dazzling and usually made up for the 14+ hour car ride fighting with my brother and making my parents crazy! (Insert necessary “don’t make me come back there” mom comment) Back in my home town, Wichita Falls, TX, there are some SPECTACULAR displays including the Fantasy of Lights (which is really more of a hometown must-see every year) and neighborhoods lined with candy cane lit trees (it’s the prettiest thing!). I’m making it a point to see more of the Dallas lights this year, including the 12 days of Christmas display at the Dallas Arboretum.. I hear it’s breathtaking!

I’m also planning on attending at least one of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Christmas concerts. I am a regular at the DSO but have actually never been to a Christmas pops concert.. excited doesn’t describe it! This coming weekend is the Texas Ballet Theater’s the Nutcracker. This will be the first performance I’ve seen of theirs, I’m very much looking forward to seeing their style. With my ballet history I can tell you every company has their own little differences and unique application to the Nutcracker story. It makes it even more exciting to see!Ā I grew up performing in the Nutcracker every year and have been nearly every role at some point. Hearing the familiar tunes of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker compilationĀ immediately sets inĀ nostalgia and makes me a wee bit sad. I miss the anticipation behind the curtain, anxious to dance underneath the stage lights and for an audience you’ve been preparing for months ahead of time. Hearing the audience’s applause is one of the most incredible feelings I cannot quite put into words. Gosh.. I miss it. But now you know how I can walk around the hospital in heels all day long šŸ™‚
