Fall Flats
Okay so, I have a tiny confession .. I don’t always wear heels. And by that I mean probably 97.99% of the time I wear heels. If you follow my Instagram, or see the feed at the bottom of this blog, you’ll know those random days un-elevated are spent in either a) really super cute flats or b) really super cute Toms (I have at least 10 pairs, just can’t stay away!).
No lie, EVERY time I wear flats at least three people at work will tell me “OH my gosh! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in flats!!” to which I reply “You say that every time I wear flats!” (Insert flabbergasted faces). It gets super dramatic if I wear scrubs, especially consecutive days in a row. People usually surmise I’m not feeling well when that happens, which is typically true. I’ve always been a big believer in taking pride in your appearance, which takes on a variety of definitions for various individuals. For me, a winning day is pulling together the complete look: hair, makeup, outfit, etc. Some days, a win might be actually brushing my hair instead of tossing it in a messy bun or a braid.. and that’s totally okay. What do you consider your wins when you get out of bed? In college, it was really a great day if I managed a bra and a non-hoodie/sweatpants pairing. gosh, that sounds glorious. My point here though is you never know who is taking note of your appearance. I have had random people (who I’ve never formally met) in the hospital approach me and ask if I was “okay” because I wasn’t trotting around in my standard heels. Even the shuttle driver once made a comment when I wore scrubs 3 days in a row, even remarking “WHOA! You must be sick! You okay honey?”
This hilarious situation spawned a less than $100 fall flats inspirational moment. And yes.. another opportunity to practice my collage making skills.
