The Infamous Taboo | White after Labor Day

Firstly, I hope you all (if you’re here in the States) have had a lovely Labor Day holiday weekend. Did you do anything fun? I’ve basically been resting and I’m totally okay with that. Having a four day weekend with Charlie and enjoying the little things like cooking together and scary thriller movies and something we never get to do, so needless to say we’ve done nothing much more than that.

I’ve always had a rebellious nature when it comes to the “no white after Labor Day” rule. I mean – where did that even come from? I was talking about to Charlie about it yesterday and he called it a bunch of egotistical hooey — I knew I loved him for a reason. But seriously, let’s think on it, who made such a silly rule to say a certain color isn’t allowed after a certain time of year? Especially when the greater portion of that year is decked out in that color (snow).

Some people still won’t wear white because it comes with a certain stigma, like it only belongs to grand celebrations or occasions. I say the hell with that. To me the color is just so striking – as is any color when worn boldly. Whether you’re wearing this to dinner, to a bridal shower, to the grocery store, or at your own wedding – you do you! The back detail on this beauty sold me immediately – it’s darling, flirtatious, playful, and graceful with a keenly flattering fit. I just want to pair it with a floral crown and run through a field. Yes, I’m a total dreamer… always.

What is your take on whites year round? Who joins me on a beautiful winter white look? I’m curious to hear your thoughts! Leave me a comment below! Here’s a look at another favorite white dress of mine, with a little splash of color.

    1. thanks Josselyn — that name has always been a favorite of mine ever since I heard it on a Knight’s tale, it’s just gorgeous! and p.s. – the bag is 23 $ !!

  4. I have never really paid much attention to the “no white after labor day” thing but then again, with two small children, I tend to shy away from anything white that would show every little stain lol. Your outfit is gorgeous, though! Wish I could pull something like that off!

  5. I love this outfit! I totally agree?! Who came up with that rule?? Obviously they never heard of “Winter White” lol. I love white, and I say if you feel good then you more than likely look good šŸ˜‰

  6. I love the whole outfit especially the shoes!! You really made it look like effortless. My take on wearing white?
The main point here is that times have changed as well as the antiquated notion of wearing white. The truth is, no matter what your name is, you can wear white any damn time of the year you want.

  7. The whole “not wearing white after Labor day” is so dated. I love adding a pop of white in my outfit to make everything else shine bright. Plus come on a plain white tee is an absolute must when rocking those falls jeans.

  8. love love love that dress and heels. Where can i buy them? Also, I don’t think i can handle very well but i could go wearing black year around though šŸ™‚
