Muted Romance | Combining textures and Prints

Hard to believe it’s time to think about Valentines and all that romance stuff – say whuuttt? When I was younger I thought Valentine’s Day was the sweetest day of the year. Times have changed my friends – the older I get the more I seem to just care less. Maybe it’s part of letting go of the “little things” or that I’ve essentially been alone for many of the past few holidays due to distance/military/etc. One thing I can still get hyped for though, is a date night look. Whether you plan on pulling together an eye-catching Valentine’s ensemble or just want an idea to go out and look like the dime piece you are, this is a more “non-traditional” romantic look.

I love me some off the shoulder action, large prints, crop tops, and pencil skirts – so why not combine all of those things? Even throw in a mix of textures and you’re a sight for sore eyes! The silky sheer material from the crop top mixed with the leatherette skirt just had me swooning! I spiced it up with a playful lace up bootie – but it would be equally cute in a strappy heel! I adore these Rachel Comey hoops – they’re one of my favorite purchases from Fall.

I’m keeping this one short and sweet – I know not everyone out there celebrates Valentine’s Day or likes wearing bold/vibrant reds .. so now you’ve got another tool in your basket! I’ve also posted below some of my favorite darker red lips, including the shade I’m wearing (sin by MAC)! In case you all need some more inspo – check out the Valentine’s tab in the top toolbar – all kinds of cute ideas including the dress I’m wearingĀ for the big day!

  1. Such a cute outfit! I love that midi skirt! I also don’t really care about valentines day, I think it is such a forced holiday. But I also love a good excuse to get dressed up!
