My 2019 Reads

The bookworm in me set a goal to read 30 books this year – and somehow I read 34 despite being engulfed in school books. There’s just something about losing yourself in a novel and the character’s tumultuous emotions that is rather soothing to my constantly stressed out soul.

If I had to pick a single favorite of all – I’d say Educated was such an outstanding book – based on a true story. Her pursuit of knowledge despite her upbringing is supremely motivating but also enlightening: we take SO much for granted.. including an education. I highly highly highly recommend it!

I’m also a sucker for a great fictional series – I found a few new ones like the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber, and finished the entire Vampire Chronicles series by Anne Rice. I’m currently reading Nora Robert’s Rise of the Magicks – book 3 of the Year One series. Clearly I’m a fan of magic, mystery, and wonder.

For Christmas I was gifted a new book: On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong and I can’t wait to read it. My Goodreads list is ever-growing but I’m still hoping to read several new books this year despite the daunting academic semesters ahead.
