My Favorite Exfoliants

As you know, skincare is something I’m deeply passionate about. I don’t care who you are – your face deserves to be well taken care of. I exfoliate 2-3 times a week to remove all the dead skin and keep my pores happy. I have a few exfoliants I absolutely love that vary in price as well as “grittiness.”

my favorite exfoliants

While I love a good and gritty exfoliant, too much grit can cause micro-tears in your skin and actually damage your precious face – so beware. I tend to use a really soft sugary scrub at the beginning of the week and shift towards a heavier grit or chemical exfoliant at the end of the week to just scrub away all the bullshit from the week – stress and dead skin šŸ™‚

Exfoliation is just one step in my typical skincare routine – I’ve laid it all out here in case you’re curious!

Tula

Tula, one of my favorite skincare brands, has a fantastic line of exfoliants. This seasonal pumpkin scrub is a super gentle sugar scrub that honestly would be safe to use several days of the week – plus it smells freaking heavenly. They also have another sugar scrub that is available year round. Another product that’s a touch bit grittier is their deep exfoliating blackhead scrub. It smells like berries and leaves your skin glimmering. Lastly, their exfoliating mask is absolutely incredible. I swear your skin sparkles after you wash it off and no, I’m not exaggerating I swear! Remember to use code TARARRIZED for 15% off!

Fresh

I’ve talked about Fresh quite a bit on here, particularly about their awesome holiday gifts in this post and here. Some of their best products, in my opinion, are their exfoliants. Their face exfoliators are all rather gentle. I haven’t tried this Umbrian clay exfoliator but the mask is phenomenal so I expect nothing less. I love love LOVE their body exfoliants/scrubs. The cocoa scrub is SO invigorating and smells like dessert. YUM. The brown sugar body scrub also has a grit that just relaxes me after using it. It’s like a shower massage that just sets you right. Lastly, don’t forget about your LIPS. A lip scrub is SO good for chapped lips but also just to keep your lips looking fresh. I like to use this lip brush together with the scrub to get a great result.

Colleen Rothschild

I’m a big fan of a variety of Colleen’s products. The intense hydrating mask is absolutely incredible. I came across this scrub when it was first released. I will say, the grit is awesome – definitely more intense than the previous exfoliants aforementioned. That being said, it’s rather expensive and not exactly a large package. I would set myself a sale alert and grab this during their periodic sales if you’re wanting to try it. Great product but quite pricey for the size.

Boscia

I love me some Boscia. I’ve also mentioned their products on here quite a bit and always refresh my supply during the Sephora sales. I was FLOORED when I tried their exfoliating peel gel. FLOORED I tell you! I put a video on my (laughable) TikTok page. Despite the uncool video – (how do the kids do it these days?!) – the result is still astonishing. Your dead skin cells literally gather up into visible clumps and wash off leaving an incredibly fresh face. I use this little silicone face scrubber to really get all the gunk off. I’m telling you – it’s MAGICAL.

Others I’ve Used

Another quite pricey but also a goodie is the ExfoliKate series. It comes in a variety of sizes but is rather expensive no matter the size. The grit is AMAZING and the formulation feels like your skin is singing afterwards.. but be prepared to drop some coins. I actually need a refill on this product and you better believe I make it LAST. Dr. Brandt’s microdermabrasion exfoliant is a silky smooth fine exfoliator. I think it does a marvelous job and isn’t quite as steep as the Kate Somerville products. I think I first came across it in a boxycharm box or something like that and was pleasantly surprised. Lastly, I bought this Wishful enzymatic scrub and sadly was rather underwhelmed. It smells nice but that’s about it – in my opinion.

  1. I love a good exfoliant! I think its something I wasn’t doing for a long time and now I really try to make sure I do.

  2. It’s been far too long since I’ve invested in a new exfoliant. I’ve been using the same Neutrogena one for years, but I miss having a specialty one to apply on spa evenings. I gotta try out a few of these soon! I always love hearing about your beauty picks!

  3. Yes! I heard this about exfoliants recently, and more people need to know that harsh ones can damage.
