New Beginnings

And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.

Hello my darlings!

Happy New Year to you all!

Are you recovered from your holiday celebrations and shenanigans? How did you spend your New Year’s Eve? My NYE was actually rather elegant this year I must say. I chatted away the last remaining hours of 2016 and celebrated the precious beginning of 2017 with my dearest friend Kaitlin, all while enjoying beautiful scenery and an absolutely delicious multi-course dinnerĀ at Stephan Pyles’s Flora Street Cafe. It was truly a lovely evening of gorgeous food and dialogue.

The luster and sparkle of the New Year is something I always find truly beautiful. Whether it is a conscious or subconscious decision, the soul seems to goĀ ahhh and let go (or at least a little) of the woes and troubles of the previous year, giving itself permission to start anew and hold fast to the promise of all new possibilities and hopes.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.Ā

Three days before Christmas, right as I landed in Boston, I received the news I have been waiting MONTHS to know. I was accepted into the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program in Executive Leadership at Loyola University New Orleans(!!!!!) This news is everything I have been preparing for and praying for but also symbolizes the continuity of change in my every year. Change, in my opinion, is what keeps us young, keeps our minds alive and fresh.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.

Later this week I will recap my 2016 and what I hope to achieve in this year to come. Tonight I just wanted to share some inspiration and warm fuzzies.. that’s what the New Year is truly about, isn’t it? Also.. I got a new camera (Canon EOSĀ 80D) for Christmas.. and it definitely gives me all the feels. The weather in Dallas today was too good to pass up on shooting, so I took full advantage while playing and learning my new gadget.

This outfit is totally army trend-worthy and insanely comfortable, the best combo if you ask me. The little voice in my head says SLAY GIRL SLAYYYY, just like my front door mat.Ā The bodycon dress and Kanye West inspired nude booties are from KJ Couture Apparel. You can find search their website here: see their Instagram here. Their online boutique has all the latest trends (think Kardashian glam), and I just spotted some chokers I don’t think I can live without!

(Jacket I snagged from Topshop via Nordstrom but is available here on Poshmark, here is similarĀ Topshop jacket at Nordstrom). Bag Valentino

The best part about these pieces is the versatility of each piece, which is a BIG factor in how I purchase my wardrobe. You can pair them with various jackets, shirts, shoes, bags… the list goes on and on. Don’t you agree?
