Who doesn’t get excited for an extraordinary sale? It’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time y’all!

To be honest, I’ve been a Nordstrom card holder for years and was quite clueless as to what the sale was really about until a couple of years ago. But now, my dearests, it’s like Christmas in July! So let’s get the skinny shall we?

The Sale – What is it?

Unlike most retailers trying to rid themselves of the old and unwanted, Nordstrom is marking down NEW merchandise! Yes, that’s right! Just in time to start prepping your closets for the changing of the seasons, isn’t that perfect? It’s the very reason this sale is so wonderful! So how do you best prep for the sale?

Dig around in your closet!

Take a good peek around at what you already have. See what might need updating, what you might be lacking, and what you’re willing (and rightfully so) to spoil yourself on! Fall/winter items (boots/cardi’s/sweaters/coats) can be expensive and pricier than lightweight summer dressing. I like to make a list of of want’s and wish’s so I can be somewhat realistic in my approach to the sale. No promises though.

When does it start?

The start of the sale entirely depends on whether or not you’re a Nordstrom card holder. IF you own a Nordstrom card – access to the sale begins July 13th. If not, access to the sale then begins July 17th. The sale ends August 7th and prices go back to regular pricing.

Don’t own a card? You can apply for one here: apply for a Nordstrom card. They also offer a debit card option which links directly to your bank account, in case you’re not fond of credit cards. It’s not (totally) about you

Are you one of those people (because I very much am) who blinks and suddenly it’s the week before Christmas and YIKES I have a bizillion gifts left to buy! I use this sale as a much needed opportunity to buy early Christmas gifts and other celebratory occasions popping up along the way. Perfect timing, wouldn’t you agree?

The Shopping Experience

So I’m a total online shopping junkie. I find the older I get the less I like being around mad mobs of people. Anyone else feel that way? People just seem to get hysterical and all the manners go out the window – no thanks. That being said, I love shopping this sale online BUT if you prefer the in store experience, there is that option OR you can order online and pick up curbside (if you live within reasonable distance of a Nordstrom). What am I excited about?

I was browsing the catalog and saw lots of cute fall accessories (can never have enough) and will be looking to update my denim! Now that I’m a little more of a home body/doctoral student and less of a full time healthcare professional (still working, just less often) my wardrobe has drastically shifted into much more lounge and leisure comforts than girl boss motif. I hear new UGG slippers calling my name!
