Roaming Romance: Booking a Getaway With The One You Love

Sometimes it can feel like life is all work and no play, and it’s easy to feel burned out or just to find yourself in a rut. Taking a break can be just what the doctor ordered (mentally and physically)! Consider a romantic trip with your significant other as a perfect opportunity for bonding, seeing some sights, and taking a much needed reprieve together. Here are a few things to consider if you’re thinking about booking a romantic getaway.

Arrange Some Time Off Work

First things first, you’ll need to ensure both you and your partner are able to take the time off. If you plan on surprising your partner then you need to make sure they’re already off, or are definitely able to take some holiday days. If you’re short on vacation days, how about considering an over the weekend trip? Even just taking a Friday and/or a Monday off gives you a nice long weekend without having to book extra days.

The Destination

There are some places in the world the are just known for being romantic. Cities such as Paris, Venice and London are all popular choices. Then there are places with stunning scenery, the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef to name a few. Alternatively you could choose somewhere with special significance or memories to you as a couple. Perhaps it was your first vacation or trip, the first place you said you loved each other or one of your home towns? Your budget and how many days you’re able to take off to travel will play a part. A long weekend probably isn’t best spent on long plane rides trying to get to your destination.

The Hotel

For a romantic break, the hotel is an important part of the trip, or at least it is in my opinion! Something a little more luxurious is always worth spending money, perhaps you could choose somewhere with a hot tub, a suite instead of a room or something with incredible views? As much as I love touring around, I love snuggling up in some fluffy robes with room service! Take Niagara Falls Marriott on the Falls for example, can you think of anything more romantic than being able to view this natural wonder from your room? Think champagne, rose petals on the bed and delicious room service if you want to go all out – and you should when in a place like that!

Romantic Things To Do

So now you’re on your trip, what to do with your loved one? As cliche as it sounds, walks on the beach listening to the waves and watching the sunset is both romantic and memorable. Ā Romantic dinners, hot air balloon rides or even cocktails on a rooftop bar as the sun goes down make for incredible dates and experiences together. I’ve always wanted to go on a picnic with an adorable little basket and finger foods in some picturesque setting – but there are plenty of other options to consider. You could pack some of your cute athletic wear and take a hike, enjoying the scenery around you. Also consider finding the local dining scene – cute little pie shops, popsicle stands, or non-chain restaurants offer the best compliments of the city! Your best bet would be to do some research on the location and book things ahead of time, that way there’s no messing around with tickets and you avoid disappointment.

Will you be booking a romantic getaway any time soon? What kind of destinations do you have in mind?
