Setting my Summer Makeup Look

I get a surprising number of questions from many of you about my makeup. More specifically, you all ask me HOW I get my makeup to stay put in this Texas summer heat and humidity. Okay okay, I’ll spill the beans. One of my best makeup tips is to use setting spray – no matter the season.

What does Setting Spray do?

Setting spray is a cosmetic product that is used for the intent of preserving makeup for long periods of time. Ding, ding, ding! If you live anywhere that is the slightest bit humid or hot – setting spray is your best friend. I always make sure to set my face when I know I’m going to be out and about, especially on photo shoots out in the heat! I find even on days when it’s slightly drizzly (not pouring down rain obvi) my makeup tends to stay in place!

How do I use it?

Once I’m finished with my entire look, mascara and all, I’ll spray my face as the final touch – like hairspray. You want to have the spray a few inches away from your face while you get used to the spray and intensity. The Evian mist is a very gentle mist so it won’t be harshly splashing or targeting one area of your face. I like to also reapply the mist in the middle of my day. It’s incredibly refreshing and a little bit of a wake up for your skin!

We’re all constantly looking for solutions to maximize our wallets and our time. Both are precious! A product that helps your makeup lasts longer protects both your money (you won’t have to reapply your makeup, making it deplete faster – and you save time). Make some room in your makeup bag, these Evian mists come in all sizes! Some other tips I have, use a primer! Primers help keep your look in place, apply as your very first step! Primers come first, setting spray goes last! My other piece of advice is to look at the TYPE of setting spray you’re using. If you’re on the drier side skinwise, opt for a more hydrating spray like Evian. Some setting sprays are alcohol-based and can exacerbate dry skin. And lastly, setting sprays are also transparent and non-sticky so they won’t change the color of your face or texture of your skin.
