Skincare with My Captivating Skin | Pampering Sesh
It’s no secret I’m all about skincare and taking the time to take care of you. Facials do a lovely job of combining both skincare and me time, don’t you think? I’m supremely thrilled to share with you my most recent experience with Candace at My Captivating Skin in Southlake (just outside of Dallas). Be sure to check out her Instagram or her website for more info, scheduling, and full list of services!
I’ve done body wraps before, but never a MLIS B12 Body Contour Wrap. It was amazing! Developed by a bio-chemist from UCLA medical center, this wrap was originally formulated to encourage circulatory and lymphatic flow in patients (think flushing out all the toxins and improving healthy circulation). It was meant for those suffering from diabetes, or any disease that inhibited circulation, especially in the lower extremities. Research showed that due to the increase in the flow of both the lymphatic and the circulatory systems, the patient was also experiencing cleansing of the tissues, which in turn, causes healthy inch loss and diminishing of cellulite through internal cleansing. You can actually do these wraps in close succession to help lose lots of inches in unwanted places!
Next we moved onto Dermaplaning – the best exfoliation technique (in my opinion). The physical exfoliation (done with a very sharp blade) triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin, maximizing your wallet because your products can actually do the job they’re meant for! Dermaplaning also fantastically rids the face of excess fine hairs which can often accumulate dirt and oil. I don’t know about yall but I’m a fuzzy girl! Blame my Hispanic/Native American roots. Exfoliation of dead cells along with the removal of fine hair results in healthier, brighter skin that has a smoother look and feel. Your makeup also now applies SO much more evenly! Double bonus!
Candace did a light Glycolic Peel, yes they slightly tingle but it’s nothing scary. Glycolic acid is currently a popular treatment for ridding/improving wrinkles and acne woes. When applied to the skin, it helps to remove the “glue” that holds the older, rougher and dryer skin on the surface. Once the top layer of skin is removed, the fresh, new layer is visible. It’s this layer that’s without damage looks fresher and rejuvenated.
Candace also applied a hydrating and brightening Rose Petal eye mask that both felt and smelled like heaven! The eye masks are completely saturated in hydrating rose water and hyaluronic acid – bye bye under eye bags and puffiness!
The out of this world looking helmet you see here is actually a Celluma LED light therapy mask. Celluma uses light energy to improve cellular health by accelerating the repair and replenishment of compromised tissue cells. I used to do light therapy for my deep acne and it made THE BIGGEST difference!! Candace explained it like this: in the same way that plants use chlorophyll to convert sunlight into plant tissue, high intensity light emitting diodes (LEDs) utilizing specific, proven wavelengths of light trigger a natural bio-stimulatory effect in human tissue.
Research has shown that phototherapy increases circulation, accelerates tissue repair, kills acne bacteria, decreases inflammation, improves skin tone, texture and clarity, as well as muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm, and arthritis. I’d actually be very curious to try this for some of my joint issues! Simply put, the LED light source enhances cell performance which equates for happier and healthier skin. For example, fibroblast cells will increase collagen and elastic production in connective tissue.
Lastly – we did some Radio-frequency Skin Tightening. Radio frequency is all about stimulating your own collagen production, no needles required! During a treatment a machine is used to heat the skin to between 38–40° with radio frequency, which feels like a hot stone face massage – you do feel heat in the skin but it’s comfortable, not painful. There is no downtime – you could easily have a treatment at lunchtime and go out that evening looking amazing! Definitely going to repeat this one over and over again!
I loved my session with Candace – I walked out feeling like an entirely new woman! Not to mention we always waxed my nose, a venture I had never tried before! Surprisingly it didn’t hurt, I was absolutely prepared to cry but per usual, I was overreacting. Now my nose feels naked – but in a good way. Don’t worry, I still have some filters up higher in the nasal passage, but they’re no longer winking at you when we’re face to face!
Have you guys tried an facial regimens or skincare pampering? What is your favorite?

I’ve always wanted to try dermaplaning! Looks like you had a great day. I could use a facial ASAP.
I have always wanted to get a facial — I have struggled with my skin over the years and I keep hearing about so many facials that can help with things like discoloration, acne, and fine lines.
Great post! x

This looks relaxing although it looks like it would be a little uncomfortable having the wrap over the chest.
I’ve only had a facial once and it was several years ago, but these treatments look so rejuvenating and amazing!

I just did my first facial a year ago and I was worried since I such sensitive skin but it was amazing. If I didn’t love massages so much I’d go for a facial more often.

This looks amazing! I need a facial and so many other skin treatments ASAP!! Hopefully I’ll get a break this weekend and can make an appt!
I tried the facial treatment once and my skin got irritated. Maybe it’s the specialist didn’t do it right.
I’ll change specialist soon. You look so refreshed after your treatment!
Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Skin care is so important!!!
We need this in San Francisco!
