Smile Rehab: Rescuing Your Smile for Health and Happiness
Teeth are something that you can be very self-conscious about. We all need them to eat, talk, and to flash a sparkling smile. But a lot of people can feel insecure about their teeth and feel that they don’t look right. When it comes to looking after your teeth, it’s not just what they look like that matters, either. Keeping them healthy is an important part of looking after your overall health. Gum disease has even been linked to heart disease! Did you know that? If you feel like your smile isn’t making you as happy or healthy as it could, you can take action to change it.
See Your Dentist!
You should visit your dentist regularly. Even if nothing is wrong, going for a checkup will ensure you catch any problems early and at minimum give you a chance to have a professional clean. A visit to your dentist every six months is the most ideal. If you haven’t been for a while for whatever reason, it’s time to bite the bullet and make an appointment. If you want to improve your smile and the health of your teeth, your dentist can recommend some actions to take. They might suggest some treatment, or perhaps you can speak to a dental hygienist about how to care better for your oral health.
Create a Treatment Plan
Your dentist might recommend that you have some treatment to improve the health of your teeth and gums. This can include a huge range of treatments, from fillings to root planing. In some cases, you might need to consider surgical options. Periodontal surgery might be required if you need treatment for gum disease. You can work with your dentist to create a treatment plan so that you can get healthier teeth and gums. Sometimes you might need to make a series of appointments to get your treatment and to monitor the health of your teeth.
Think About Cosmetic Dentistry
You might also want to consider whether cosmetic dentistry is right for you. This is anything that’s not medically necessary but could make your teeth look closer to what you want. It can involve whitening, straightening, fixing chips in your teeth and other options. I’ve had the upper front ten of my mouth veneered, for a multitude of reasons. Some cosmetic procedures are quick and effective, while others might take a little longer. Straightening, for example, can take months or longer. But if you don’t like the idea of wearing braces, you have the option of “invisible” braces, which are much less obvious.
Show Off Your Smile
Even if you don’t get any work on your teeth, a great way to make the most of your smile is to show it off. Boosting your confidence and self-esteem can help you to feel more comfortable about giving a big smile. You can also make your smile look great by looking after your lips (I LOVE Sara Happ products!!), keeping them hydrated and choosing makeup that’s kind to your lips too. Of course, choosing the right lipstick colors makes a big difference too!
Get your smile looking happy and healthy, and you’ll feel more confident too. Your smile can be a big part of who you are.
Couldn’t agree more! Need to check out their products š
I’m very passionate about taking good care of my teeth. after i got adult braces i never wanted to go through anything like that again and now i’m a model patient! except i keep forgetting to floss. whoops haha.
I had three years of braces, and was pretty frustrated to find out a few years later that I was allergic to the materials in my retainer. I had to quit wearing it, which caused my teeth to shift dreadfully and become really painful. So a couple months back, I made the decision to try invisalign. Now I’m on my second tray, and they’re rushing the process to get my teeth straight in 12 weeks instead of 30 so I’m good to go by my wedding day! You can say I take my teeth pretty seriously haha!
I’ve been thinking about getting cosmetic dental surgery! I totally need to start exploring my options.
