Switch Up Your Mindset, Feel More Positive and Always Look Your Best

If you’re anything like me, you have always been a summer girl who lives for the sunshine and all the perks of summer. So now that autumn has well and truly hit us (or most of us), youā€™re feeling pretty down about everything, or at least I am. I love getting up and feeling the warm rays on my face; the cold weather outside just isnā€™t working for me – including the incessant rain. During the cooler months I tend to go into a downward spiral, mainly by neglecting my health and disregarding my workouts, discarding my personal style tastes by donning frumpy sweats and sometimes even ignoring my skincare regime. So how do you look your best or even feel your best then?

You want to and can have a healthy mind and body all year round no matter the season, but you just need the motivation to make it happen. It’s finally time to switch up your mindset, feel more positive and start looking your best, even if it is chillier outdoors. I’ve been really down lately and have been reaching for all of my tried and true tactics to pull myself out of it. Check out the following inspiration to boost your mood and improve your mindset this month.

Style Secrets

There is nothing quite like refreshing your wardrobe and updating your style when the cold weather rolls around. Revamping your look can be a fun way to use your creativity and boost your confidence, even in fall and winter layers. Look online for women’s clothing that is going to make you feel smart, sophisticated and smiley, no matter what your personal style is and you will soon find yourself upgraded from sleepy to spectacular. Shopping is every girlā€™s best friend (at least I tend to think so) so get started and make a change to your style right now. And no, I’m not talking about maxing out credit cards and spending tons of cash – this is easily accomplished with a couple key pieces that can be paired with numerous outfits!Ā

AlwaysĀ Accessorize

Once you have invested in some new wardrobe items, you will need some fabulous accessories to go with them. Think about how your winter style has evolved and invest in matching items to make your outfits pop. I’m loving the bobble hat trend right now, cute backpacks, and fun new coats. There are so many ways to add a touch of glamour to all of your new winter outfits, whether they are party dresses or daytime styles.

Be Smart With Shoes

When the weather gets colder you need to think about what kind of footwear is most suitable. Of course, fashion can come first, but you have to think about practicalities too. Invest in durable pairs of boots, some casual sneakers, and a pair of winter heels that will see you through the holiday and party season. And remember, you can start wearing in your shoes now so that you know they are going to be comfortable when winter hits!

Feel Body Beautiful

It’s incredibly easy to go into hibernation mode when the cold weather comes around the corner. You donā€™t want to leave your warm bed and it seems much more appealing to be snuggled on the sofa with a hot chocolate/hot tea (speaking from personal experience). Exercising can be fun, believe it or not, so find an activity that actually makes you excited. You could join a local sports team, attend a dance class or even find a local running group to join. Everybody likes to exercise in different ways so find the type that works for you personally; you donā€™t want it to feel like a chore. Endorphins are everything and the main reason I exercise.

Happy Hair

Your hair can take a dramatic turn for the worse when the weather starts to cool down. You can get more split ends, frizzy roots and lifeless volume that will need that extra bit of tender loving care over the next few months. Invest in a nourishing hair mask that you can leave on overnight. Find products that contain moisturizing ingredients like coconut oil or avocado oil as these will provide natural moisture for every single type of hair. Wash the mask out in the morning and you will feel more protected from the elements straight away.Ā

Skincare Savviness

Just like your hair, skin becomes extra vulnerable when the cold strikes (aka hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!). You will need to use an extra thick moisturizer and lip balm to stop the delicate areas on your face from drying out. Similarly, you donā€™t want to block your pores by rubbing an excessive amount of oils onto your face, so choose a non-comedogenic moisturizer that doesnā€™t feel heavy on your skin. And remember: even if the sun isnā€™t shining you still need to wear a layer of SPF to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, so donā€™t forget to keep this within your regimen as well.

Mental Health Matters

Your mental health should always take priority, no matter what time of year it is. Let’s say that again – YOUR MENTAL HEALTH SHOULD ALWAYS TAKE PRIORITY.Ā  It is quite normal for everybody to have their up and down days, but if it is becoming a regular occurrence for you, then you might want to start making a diary of your moods – this is the best way to take notice of patterns or anything worth taking action. You might notice your mood changing with the weather or during certain times of the month; note down any prominent feelings you have, so that you can keep track. You might find it useful to speak to a professional once you have established a pattern in your thoughts and feelings.

Take a Break

Everybody deserves to take time out now and again, even if itā€™s only for a short while. Look for some of the best meditation apps to get your day started on the right foot. If you practice five to ten minutes of mindfulness each day, you might just notice a lift in your spirits. Make sure you take plenty of time out for yourself too, whether youā€™re reading your favorite book or taking a short trip away for the weekend. As long as you feel like youā€™ve got time to process your thoughts and feelings, you will always feel more positive!

Adopt a Positive Mental Attitude

Try to make small changes on a daily basis to feel more positive about many different aspects of your life. Instead of thinking that the glass is half empty, try and see it as half full. You will go a long way in life if you can stay upbeat and happy, no matter what obstacles are thrown your way.

Hopefully these simple ideas will help you start to feel more positive on a regular basis; you will also feel better about your physical appearance too. The combination of good mental health and physical fitness will help you to be happy all year round.
