Tararrized 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been live for a few hours now and again I found myself wondering if I really wanted to post about it. It is SO outplayed and repetitive before it even starts. There’s been so much chit chat in the “blogger” community about the ups and downs and here’s my take: It’s a sale, just like any other. Sure there are some fantastic savings but is it necessary to take pictures of yourself walking out with literally 12 or more bags filled with stuff just to return over half of it? The over-consumerism pushed by some regarding this sale is what grosses me out.

I know some bloggers make a good deal of their income based off of this sale, and that’s fine. You do you. But be responsible, you know? Telling everyone they’re basically dying without shopping a few sweaters or shoes is just dumb. There are BIGGER things happening in the world. So here’s how I shop the sale: I buy coats, presents, upcoming birthday and holiday gifts, and staples. Things I would NORMALLY buy but happen to be on sale. I might get a few trendy pieces but for the most part, it’s stuff I will undoubtedly keep unless it doesn’t fit or just isn’t how it appeared to look online.

So to be clear – I’m not shaming anyone who loves this sale – but bloggers posting receipts as long as your body and ultimately making people feel less than because they’re not enjoying a 2000$+ shopping spree doesn’t sit well with me. Yes we’re all adults and know how to spend our hard earned money, but the peer pressure of NEEDING to spend so much is a real thing. Okay – end rant. Now let’s check out what I see in this sale.

Some of these things were available last year and I’m including them because they’re really great. I own some of these items already and of course am not buying them again, but maybe you don’t and or you skipped over them last year and now have the opportunity to purchase again.

Dates to Remember

Beauty

All of these are brands I love and have stocked in my bathroom including the T3 hair tools. They’re a great mid price point if you’re not fully convinced to invest in a Dyson. The tri-light set is something I’ve been eager to try bc light therapy for the face does wonders! The one thing I saw that I didn’t agree with was the face steamer. You can get the same thing on Amazon for $35 (I bought it about two months ago) and it’s incredible. Don’t waste money on that.

Blazers, Coat, Scarves, Jackets

This is my favorite part of the sale because winter wear can quickly get pricey. Investing in some awesome coats or even some blazers/workwear definitely saves a buck when the weather starts getting colder. I mean… Texas doesn’t definitely get as cold as up north, but we have a few cold days a year šŸ˜‰ .

Cardigans & Sweaters

Some of these have similar feels from Blair Eadie’s line last fall, but I still love the colors. Also including some super cozy and fuzzy cardigans I’m like a moth to a flame with. Comfort = key.

Dresses and Skirts

I was a little underwhelmed with this selection but that may just be me. I do like a silk skirt and a good graphic tee combo!

Home

Jewelry

I’m totally into the coin necklace trend right now. There are some other cool pieces I didn’t include because although they are pretty (like Mary figurines) I think my cousins at All the Wire make more beautiful ones. Check this Our Lady necklace out, it’s even more sparkly in person! You’ve seen me wear a few on my stories if you watch. I also bought this St. Christopher necklace for Charlie since he’s a pilot and always in the air. Check them out!

Pajamas

Is anyone else an absolute pushover when it comes to pajama sets that are especially soft? So many of these are calling my name – particularly since lately I’m spending much more time at home and not being able to drive. Hellooooo pajamas all day every day! My picks all happen to be mostly pink, clearly I have a type.

Pants, Leggings, & Jumpsuits

This is always a great sale to stock up on professional wear/workwear and leggings. Zella is a favorite of mine for both quality and style.

Shapewear

Shoes

To be honest, I wasn’t too blown away with the shoes. I usually take the opportunity to refresh my yearly slipper purchase and always invest in a boot or two.

Sunglasses & Hats

Tops

This top comes with matching pants and I love the print. Definitely buying for summer and separate styling!

  1. I am loving all your picks here Tara!!!! I didn’t spend as much as I thought I was going to, but picked up some staples!

  2. I liked your “rant”. I have a hard time with the sale at times as well, because I don’t like the pressure of feeling like you need all.the.things. At the end of the day, they’re just clothes! BUT I totally see the wisdom in saving on things you were going to buy anyways!

  3. I like your perspective on this sale. I find it almost amusing how many bloggers get so intense about this sale, and I sit here realizing that I couldn’t possibly spend enough money throughout the year to even qualify to shop the actually decent items before they’re out of stock. By the time I, as a non-cardholder, get into the sale – everything is sold out haha. But I do like the price drops and the pieces discounted. I hope one day I’ll be able to take advantage of the sale.

  4. I spy a few must haves in your picks. I can’t wait to get my hands of these!

  5. Yes! I have been hearing way too much about the sale. Ha! I’m not much of an online shopper, and we don’t have a Nordstrom close, so I think my wallet is safe. Lol!

  6. I’ve been wanting to try a jade roller! Thanks for breaking down all the best options, especially for beauty.

  7. Totally agree with everything you said! I think so many bloggers build it up because they know that they can get a good amount of revenue out of it, but citing half the store as must-haves is irresponsible. I posted my top beauty picks, and then called it a day haha! Still planning on shopping some clothing, but I likely won’t even post about it. Too saturated.
