Ten Little Things Friday

I realize I’ve been quite absent for the last couple weeks but life has just been nuts! School has been incredibly intense – and will remain so until my final in the beginning of December. I’ll be so ready to soak up some off time during the holidays because next semester will be nuts. I’ll travel every week from Jan 20 – May for clinicals and be even more entangled in the books.

I’m not complaining – I actually love learning and expanding my knowledge. If I could be a career student, which at times I think I now am, I totally would be. Medicine is such a fascinating field because as technology advances and new treatments are discovered, other things remain exactly the same. Take penicillin for example – it was discovered in 1928 and still remains a first line treatment for most infections unless there’s an allergy. Isn’t that insane?

In other news, I was able to celebrate Veteran’s Day with Charlie this year – for the first time in years! He was actually supposed to be part of the flyover for the Dallas Veteran’s Day parade, but the weather was terrible that day: rainy, cold and insanely windy. The flyover was cancelled but afterwards there was the sweetest luncheon at Al Biernat’s for all veterans. We had a wonderful time and chatted with various service men and women including a former WWII POW. Imagine being a prisoner of war in Japan for 7 years and the horrors he endured and witnessed. Your life and abundant blessings become immediately apparent.

I haven’t done a ten things post in quite a while – or really much of anything since Halloween so I figured we’re due. What’s new with you?

Rainbow Sweater

I wore this sweater the other day to an event at Northpark Mall and posted it on instagram. I cannot tell you how many people stopped me or messaged me to give me a kind compliment. I paired it with emerald green slacks and some oxford shoes.

Holiday Earrings

I used to wear statement earrings ALL the time. I had oodles of them – still do. For whatever reason I stopped wearing earrings almost entirely over the past year or so – probably because I’m no longer in an office. Anywho – Baublebar always has adorable seasonal accessories and this year they’re back with various paired earrings with dangly legs. I bought this snowman & woman set as well as this reindeer boy and girl set. SO CUTE. There’s also an elf set and a santa set.

Swedish Meatballs

I was browsing instagram the other day and came across this recipe on Williams-Sonoma’s page. Growing up my mom would buy frozen Stouffer’s Swedish meatballs and I LOVED them. I’d never made before and I rarely cook but I decided to give it a go. OMGGGG they’re amazing. I used gluten-free bread crumbs, farfalle pasta, and ground turkey rather than ground beef. SO YUM and perfect for this cooler fall weather.

Brunette

I was up in my hometown the other week for school and was already going to get my hand-tied extensions moved up. Spur of the moment I decided I was ready for a change – a color change. It’s been a few years since I was brunette (aka my real color) and felt it was time to give the blonde a rest for a bit. It’s funny how a hair color can change your overall look; it’s only hair after all but it makes such a difference. I LOVE being back to my original self and the added length we did this time around.

Grinch Mug

I literally just found this today on Etsy and immediately snagged it. I was actually searching for a holiday coffee mug but saw this and figured it was more universal in use. You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

Silky Striped Pajamas

I already own these jammies in black and green. They’re soft, light, and perfectly cozy. OF COURSE I needed the red ones for Christmas. Is that even a question? Highly recommend.

Disney +

At first I wasn’t going to hop on board – I mean I already own most of the movies on appletv except maybe Fantasia. Butttttt I’ll admit it’s pretty awesome. There are so many classics from the vault on there and shows I forgot I loved. I mean come on, DUCKTALES yall! Have you signed up? And let’s remember, zero kids here. Living my best life anyway! And don’t forget, the new Star Wars show The Mandalorian is awesome! Spoiler alert: there’s a baby YODA! The cuteness overwhelms.

Faux Leather Pants

Okay so, funny story: the other day I was getting dressed to meet some friends for dinner and put on my old faux leather pants. I’m not sure the last time I wore them but HOLY SMOKES have I gotten used to high waisted pants. These older pants aren’t particularly low-rise but WOWZERS did they feel like they belonged on a 16 year old. I feel old even saying that but it’s official – give me high waisted pants… or sweat pants tbh. Putting those pants on my Poshmark because I VERY quickly bought a high waisted pair.

Olapex Holiday Set

I’m buying this for all the ladies on my holiday shopping list. I can’t rave about it enough and what a difference the products have made on my hair.

Strawberry Scrub

I bought this face scrub on my recent visit to the Fresh Beauty store in Northpark. It’s been in my Sephora wishlist for a while and I always forget to grab it. I spotted it in the store and now I wish I’d bought it sooner. It’s such a nice consistency, not too harsh and not too light to where you’re wondering if it’s even serving a purpose. If you’re in the marker for a new scrub – I highly suggest!
